is tequila vegan

We know that there are many things in the world that you don’t want to be vegan—like salt-rimmed margaritas and bacon-wrapped shrimp with cilantro sauce.

But, you may be wondering, is tequila vegan? Yes, it’s true! Tequila is made with agave (not sugar) as its main ingredient, so it’s naturally vegan.

So what about other alcoholic drinks? Some people might think that gin is vegan because it has no eggs or dairy in it, but it isn’t. Gin contains fish products like gelatine and is therefore not suitable for vegans.

If you’re a tequila fan afraid to try it because you’re not sure if its main ingredient is plant-based, now you can relax. If you’re looking for something new and exciting to try out this weekend, give this tequila a try!

Why is Tequila Vegan?

If you’ve ever been to a party and thought, “I wish I could bring a plant to this,” then you know what we’re saying.

We love tequila. It’s a delicious drink that can provide a bit of an edge to any occasion. And with the growing number of vegans worldwide, it’s clear that tequila’s popularity is increasing—and we’re excited about it!

What’s so great about tequila?

Well, for starters, it comes from blue agave – a succulent plant in Mexican regions resembling a giant pineapple. The heart of the plant, also called pina, is used in tequila production.

Premium brands do not use additional ingredients, making them entirely plant-based. So if you’re looking to add something new and exciting to your social life, look no further than this delicious plant-based alternative to achieve an excellent alkaline vegan diet.

Bottle of Tequila with Worm

Is Tequila worm-free?

The answer is yes, but not all tequilas are worm-free. Mezcal is another story entirely!

There are two types of worms in Mezcal: the guano and mezcals that contain them. The guano larva is a common ingredient in many different types of Mezcal, including agave nectar.

The larva can be found in many different types of Mezcal as well as other spirits like rum and vodka. If a bottle says ‘con gusano’, then it means that it contains gusano larvae—avoid it if you’re vegan!

If you want to avoid having to worry about whether or not your Tequila is worm-free, get yourself some agave nectar for a little boost.

Which Tequila Brands Are Vegan?

When you’re out to have a good time, you must be sure your tequila is vegan. Most tequilas are vegan, including Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo varieties of tequila.

Which Tequilas Are Not Vegan?

Non-Vegan tequilas are pretty easy to spot. They tend to be cream tequila, and they’ll typically tell you that their product contains dairy.

You’ll also occasionally run into a brand of tequila that doesn’t tell you about its non-vegan status, but in that case, we recommend checking the ingredients list before you buy it.

Some Tequilas are made with aloe vera, but they’re not vegan-friendly. These products are non-vegan because they contain honey, which is also not vegan-friendly.

You should check the ingredient list on the bottle before consuming it. Also, if it has added sugar in it, then it’s not vegan-friendly either.

What Distinguishes a Non-Vegan Alcoholic Beverage?

Are you a fan of beer and wine?

If so, you’ve probably wondered how they get their unique flavors. After all, most beers and wines are non-vegan because of the use of isinglass, gelatine, and casein. And that means there’s no way to know what you’re drinking—even if the label looks made with milk or eggs.

Here are some things you should look out for when shopping for beer and wine:

  • Isinglass used in beer and wine- comes from fish
  • Chitin used in beer and wine -obtained from crab and lobster shells
  • Carmine, used in red alcoholic beverages, comes from cochineal insects.
